Description
Fairy tail palaces, lush vegetation and a 10th century castle makes this walk a must for active people. The unique history, landscape and exquisite monuments in Sintra have attracted people for many centuries and made it World Heritage By UNESCO in 1995.
In this Walking Tour we are going to experience what makes Sintra mountain so attractive.
Starting in front of Sintra National Royal Palace, with its unmistakable conical chimneys, we´ll go through cobblestone streets of the village centre to enter a world of wonder all the way up to the moorish castle built by the moors 10 centuries ago. It’s like going back in time or being a character in a story of a book!
Leaving the castle behind, the next trail walk will take us up to the Pena Palace Park created by the will of the consorte King, Ferdinand the 2nd, in the 19th century when he decided to create a summer residence for the Royal Family. It has more than 500 species of plants from all over the world.
We will ascend to the mountain’s highest point where we´ll enjoy the great views and from there we will be descencending through the lush forest and enchanted gardens back to the town centre, where we started this adventure.
